Request to Erect a Statue of the Theotokos

We, the undersigned residents and friends of Lakeland, respectfully submit this petition on behalf of Saint Nektarios Orthodox Church Community to request approval for the installation of a statue of the Theotokos (Our Lady, the Mother of God).

The purpose of this statue is to provide a place of reflection, peace, and cultural enrichment for all visitors. The Theotokos is a revered figure in the Christian tradition, representing compassion, humility, and love. This statue would stand as a visible reminder of these values and serve as a source of inspiration to the broader community.

Our church community is prepared to coordinate fundraising and cover costs related to the statue’s creation, installation, and maintenance in collaboration with the City of Lakeland.
